SEN: Making ICT work for users with special needs

Several of the UK's leading ICT schools are those that serve learners with a wide range of Special Educational Needs, ranging from Autism and ASD to PLD, MLD and SLD. Much has been done over the last decade to ensure ICT supports teachers and learners in developing life skills, a range of competencies and the ability to become more autonomous and independent.

We are fortunate to be partners with a select group of organisations with distinct specialisms across the SEN sector including AbilityNet and LifeLites. This brings a great deal of deep understanding to the table when engaging with SEN Schools.

With Tribune onboard, you can expect to start to understand the impact of new and emerging technologies working in harmony with your existing SEN technologies to make learning more accessible and fully inclusive. We are currently engaging our R&D teams in a range of activities to support our work with SEN schools including the use of handhled devices, gesture-control, voice activation, touch-screens and using virtual 'triggers' as inputs rather than traditional keyboard, mouse or controller. We are currently working with a number of schools on devising strategies for the future to support decisions around refresh, infrastructure and investment, designed around the learner, teacher, school and family.
